High-temperature evolution of diamond-SiC composites

چکیده

Diamond-SiC composites are attractive for improving the catastrophic fracture behaviour of SiC. However, fundamental knowledge is missing about structure this system and mechanism diamond graphitization. We used spark plasma sintering to study diamond-Si-SiC between 1600 2000?C in function nanocrystalline (ND) microcrystalline (MD) addition as well quantity Sibonding phase. Increasing temperature induces intense graphitization formation nano-onions, few-layered graphene well-ordered graphite prepared at elevated temperature. High resolution transmission electron microscopy demonstrates occurrence previously erroneously identified 5H-SiC polytype samples 2000?C. Regardless Si contents, SiC not confirmed even high

High Thermal Conductivity SiC/SiC Composites for Fusion Applications

SiC-SiC composites offer excellent potential for fusion energy as well as numerous commercial applications. High manufacturing cost and very low through-the-thickness (transverse) thermal conductivity (below 15 W/mK) hinders wider applications of SiC/SiC composites. To overcome these obstacles, a low-cost, Chemical Vapor Reaction (CVR) process was developed to fabricate crystalline, high purity...

Modelling of high temperature interfacial reactions in continuously reinforced Ti/SiC metal matrix composites (MMCs)

Previous experimental work by Gundel and Wawner showed that the matrix alloy has a strong effect on reaction layer growth in Ti alloy/SCS-6 composite systems. A finite difference technique was used to model the reaction layer growth, which predicts the same trends as those exhibited by the experimental data. Matrix alloying elements such as Mo and Cr in metastable R alloys will affect the equil...

High Temperature Bipolar SiC Power Integrated Circuits

In the recent decade, integrated electronics implemented using wide bandgap semiconductor technologies such as Gallium Nitride (GaN) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) have been shown to be viable candidates in extreme environments (e.g high-temperature and high radiation). Such electronics have applications in down-hole drilling, automobile-, airand spaceindustries. In this thesis, integrated circuits ...

Application of Electrophoretic Deposition for Interfacial Control of High-Performance SiC Fiber-Reinforced SiC Matrix (SiCf/SiC) Composites

This chapter reviews the novel fabrication process of continuous SiCf /SiC composites based on electrophoretic deposition (EPD). EPD process is very effective for achieving relatively homogeneous carbon coating with the thickness of several tens to hundreds nanometers on SiC fibers. Carbon interface with the thickness of at least 100 nm formed by EPD acts effectively for inducing interfacial de...

High-temperature electron emission from diamond films

This work examines electron field-emission characteristics of polycrystalline diamond films at elevated temperatures. Diamond is an excellent material as a field emitter because of its exceptional mechanical hardness and chemical inertness. The motivation behind this study involves the use of field emitters in applications where high temperatures exist. Nitrogen-doped polycrystalline diamond fi...
